Steadicam Operator's Workshops
The Steadicam Operator's Workshops run by Steadi On Films are intensive 2 day practical workshops.
Each class is limited to a small group of 4 students that ensures each student gets maximum practical time operating the rigs with personalised instruction from Phil.
Introducing operators to steadicam operating with smaller rigs which reduces the physical stress and makes the learning curve much faster. We use the lighter weight Tiffen Professional Video rigs, such as the Pilot, Scout and Zephyr, because they are identical in set up and operating techniques as the larger film and broadcast rigs.
At the completion of the workshop all students will have full understanding of how to balance, set up and the operating techniques required to operate ANY steadicam.
What You Will Learn;
• How to set up and balance a steadicam for optimum performance.
• Essential operating techniques covering using hands, footwork and correct posture.
• Moving in confined spaces, uneven terrain.
• Low mode set up and balance, flying the rig left and right side.
• Developing a creative approach to make the steadicam shots more interesting. Throughout the workshop we show a selection of clips of great steadicam shots, discuss how they were achieved and then put those techniques into practice.
• Tips for working with cast and other crew to get what you need for a really good shot.
All necessary equipment is provided. Students each receive a printed and bound manual and a certificate of completion. Lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments are provided.

"On Campus" Workshops
Steadi On Films can also bring a workshop to your film school, production facility, organisation or group.
The curriculum is identical to the Lightweight Rig 2 day workshop.
We bring the Steadicams, Workshop Manuals and lecture materials; you provide a suitable venue to work in, a screen for viewing clips and keynotes and catering.
Cost for a group of up to four students
$2250 inc GST (plus travel expenses if outside Sydney).
Private tuition.
Phil also offers private tuition for for individuals or smaller private groups that can be scheduled at times to suit them.
